On the morning of Sunday, March 15, 2020, the Sona Pharmacy + Clinic team began working together with our community to make the first drive-thru testing clinic in Western North Carolina possible.
This was no small effort; it took selfless acts of service by those both inside and outside of the medical community. The Biltmore Company generously donated the tent that would allow such a site to exist, multiple physicians’ offices donated extra supplies and volunteered their time to test patients, and the Buncombe County Health Department coordinated the safety of our staff and patients by providing on-site police support.
All of these small acts of heroism quickly turned an idea into a reality and proved that our community is here for each other during this difficult time.
Our drive-thru clinic allowed physicians to screen and test far more individuals than would have been possible otherwise, as well as provide reassurance for those exhibiting symptoms that medical attention is available to them.
Since Sunday, the Buncombe County Health Department has continued to support the creation of drive-thru clinics and is now offering two drive-thru test sites to the public as of Tuesday, March 17 at 1pm. More information about their drive-thru test site can be found here.
Thank you to the BCHD for their dedication to limiting exposure while still providing care for those who need it. The Sona Clinic is now directing community members who are currently exhibiting the known symptoms of COVID-19 (fever combined with a cough or shortness of breath) to contact the health department for more information about testing.
Sona Pharmacy + Clinic is committed to continuing to find the most impactful and innovative ways to support our community, especially in times of uncertainty. In order to limit exposure while still supporting the needs of our community, here are some ways that our pharmacy is available to you:
- – Drive-thru pick up: utilize our drive-thru to pick up your prescriptions! Our team can also shop within the storefront for any items you may need if you choose not to come inside.
- – Delivery service: we offer free delivery for all prescriptions within WNC.
- – Sona App: our app is available to existing patients, allowing you to refill prescriptions, text with Sona staff, schedule medication alerts and much more.
If you are not feeling well or are exhibiting symptoms, please utilize the above options. If you are feeling well and healthy and do elect to come into the pharmacy, we ask that individuals immediately wash their hands.
The Sona Clinic is currently open and operating under normal business hours. However, if you are planning a visit, please call at (828) 552-3999 before entering the clinic. You must speak with a clinic employee on the phone to be evaluated before you may enter the clinic. This is to ensure the safety of both our patients and staff as we work to address the medical needs of our community during this time.
We are so thankful to be a part of the WNC and Asheville communities and are dedicated to serving needs in every way, both now and in the future.
