Did you know Sona participates in a community pharmacy residency program?
In a nutshell, the PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency (offered through the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy) is an extra year of community pharmacy training for a recently graduated pharmacist.
The residents that take part in this program are some of the brightest young pharmacists in the nation!
This year, we are happy to welcome Tori Vaughan to the Sona team!
Tori cares deeply for her patients, and we are very excited to see what she accomplishes throughout the year.
Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi, my name is Tori Vaughan and I am the newest resident pharmacist at Sona Pharmacy!
I am a transplant from Austin, TX with my corgi pup Bandit.
Outside of the pharmacy, my fiance and I love hiking, movies, and good food!
What brought you from Texas to North Carolina?
Sona Pharmacy! I am the new pharmacy resident from June 2018-2019.
I was attracted to the values and services Sona has to offer. Plus I thought Asheville would be such a fun city!
What does a community pharmacy resident do each day?
As the Sona Pharmacy resident, I get to be a little bit of a utility player.
I have the opportunity to serve patients in a variety of ways by helping in the pharmacy, in the Sona Access program, and occasionally staffing in our Hendersonville location (on the campus of Carolina Village).
I also am involved with the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy by teaching and mentoring students.
What is your passion within pharmacy?
I love getting to talk to and develop relationships with my patients.
Independent community pharmacy practice provides the perfect opportunity to help people through healthcare, but also support and celebrate with them over the years.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I spend most of my time hanging out with Bandit and serving at church. I also enjoy exploring all of Asheville’s delicious food and breweries!
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I have never had a brain freeze! Hard to believe, but I can eat ice cream at the speed of lightning.
Finally, why did you choose to work at Sona?
The unique services and high quality care first attracted me to Sona, but the staff and people solidified that Sona would be a good fit for me!
The pharmacists and technicians are fun to work with and care for me in the same way they care for their patients.
