We are excited to showcase Frank Jamison, Sona’s Director of Specialty Pharmacy.
Frank brings a wealth of experience in specialty pharmacy, and is committed to building a personal relationship with each patient.
Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi, my name is Frank Jamison and I am the Director of Specialty Pharmacy at Sona Specialty.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Colorado (where I am originally from) and then moved to Maine for pharmacy school.
While in Maine, I began my career by working at a local Specialty pharmacy. After that company was acquired, my wife and I decided to relocate to Asheville, NC where I joined the Sona team.
How is Sona Specialty different than other pharmacies?
A specialty pharmacy provides high-cost medications that are typically complex.
These medications usually require special storage and handling and may not be readily available at your local pharmacy. Sometimes, these medications have side effects that require monitoring by a trained pharmacist or nurse.
Sona Specialty Pharmacy focuses on providing these medications while offering excellent customer service and support to you and your caregivers.
Our goal is to work diligently for our patients to make sure that they are able to gain access to their medications at an affordable cost.
What do you do at Sona Specialty?
I manage the day to day operations, and work with other members of our team to meet the needs of our patients.
Sona Specialty Pharmacy has a lot going on at this time as we just opened our doors. We are undergoing multiple accreditation processes, expanding our state licensure footprint, and adding new insurance contracts.

Our normal pharmacy hours are 9 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday.
What is your passion within pharmacy?
I love the variety. I love being able to help patients as much as I can. I love helping develop new initiatives and programs within the pharmacy, and I love working with our staff.
Outside of the pharmacy, what are your hobbies?
My wife and I enjoy exploring the Asheville area. Being new in town, it is fun to discover new places to eat and to attend local events.
