Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Laura Louis, and I live in Candler with my husband Tim, and our son Gus. We are expecting our second child next summer and cannot wait!
When Tim and I aren’t working, we spend our time hiking, seeing live music, and doing home improvement projects. I also enjoy building and refinishing furniture and have a few projects I’m working on now.
I love living in Western North Carolina and everything it has to offer. There is always something to do and a new place to explore.
What are your responsibilities at Sona?
Every day is different for me at Sona!
I work mainly with Sona Benefits – our transparent pharmacy benefit management service for self-funded employer groups.
I also work closely with Tasha Michaels, Sona’s Director of Clinical Services, on the health management program we offer to employer groups. The program helps improve the health of employees with chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and COPD, while reducing medical costs.
Outside of those roles, I partner with local doctors offices to help coordinate prior authorizations for certain specialty medications. I help patients get these important prescriptions covered, filled, and delivered.
Finally, on any given day, you can find me helping answer pharmacy phone calls, filing prescription paperwork, filling up our robot, or helping in the Sona Access program.
What drives you to do what you do?
I always try to go over and beyond for our patients. I like to offer the level of customer service I expect from a business.
Over the years, I have truly enjoyed getting to know our patients. Knowing I’m helping them and making a difference in their lives makes me happy.
I love that everyday brings something new, and I am always learning and growing in my role at Sona.
How does Sona Benefits make a difference to employees and employer groups?
I think our approach automatically makes us different.
We try to make things simple and convenient for our clients. We are open, honest, and we strive to produce results. We have found people truly appreciate that approach and often don’t expect to find it in a healthcare company.
Our Benefit clients are not just an ID number on their insurance card. We offer the highest level of customer service and want to go the extra mile for each person. Clients know when they call Sona who they will be talking to, and we always want to make sure they are satisfied.
I have had the privilege of getting to know many of our clients from working with Sona Benefits, and they are now part of our Sona family.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
I have been with the pharmacy close to 9 years and have had several different roles during that time. It has been amazing to see how much has changed over the years, and how much we have grown!
I am blessed to be part of this company that has taught me so much, and helped me grow in my career. I love all of my coworkers; we are family and they make being at work fun.
I look forward to seeing where my future at Sona will take me!
