Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi! My name is Jessica Owenby and I am originally from Asheville, NC. I graduated from A.C. Reynolds High school and I am married to a fabulous man; Josh.
I have been in the pharmacy field since 2006. Outside of work, my husband and I own a home where we raise chickens. I also serve as a youth leader at my local church. We always enjoy hiking and seeing the beautiful waterfalls and skylines that WNC offers.
What are your responsibilities at Sona?
I serve as the Community Referral Coordinator for the Sona Access Program.
In a nutshell, I work with individuals in the Western North Carolina community that could benefit from Sona’s enhanced services.
How does the Sona Access program make a difference in the lives of patients?
Since being with the Sona Access program, I have been part of a team that makes patients feel like family. Going the extra mile to ensure patients’ medication needs are always met is extremely gratifying.
Our team works to ensure patients have a smooth transition from hospitals, facilities, and home health services back home. By offering enhanced pharmacy services such as in-home visits, medication reconciliation, free delivery, monthly care calls (and happy birthday calls!), the Sona Access team always tries to put the patient’s needs first.
What drives you to do what you do?
I really enjoy helping people! I like being someone that hears concerns, and tries to work with others to resolve those concerns.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
I love being part of a team that works together on the behalf of the patient and in support of each other.
I enjoy assisting the home health nurses and care managers I work with in our community. My goal is to partner with our local healthcare professionals to provide a safe, friendly, and easy service for our patients.
