On August 21st, 2017 a phenomenon will take place in the US that has not been seen for nearly a century…
Multitudes of people are descending upon Western North Carolina, booking hotel rooms, crowding restaurants, and searching for the perfect view. Businesses are preparing, schools are taking half-days, and Sona is ready for the ECLIPSE!
As we’re sure you’ve heard, the 2017 total solar eclipse will occur on August 21st. WNC is preparing for this sight to behold between 2 pm and 3 pm, but we want to be sure you’re watching the eclipse safely.
Did you know that watching the eclipse without proper protection can cause permanent damage to your eyes?
To properly prepare for viewing, you must wear protective eclipse glasses that meet ISO 12312-2 standards. Regular sunglasses are not adequate as they do not block the proper amounts of radiation. If you are watching the eclipse in Asheville, or in a city that does not have a 100% totality, be sure to wear your glasses throughout the entire eclipse.
Sona will be selling eclipse safe eyewear (purchased through a NASA approved vendor) while supplies last. With the amount of excitement around the eclipse, we don’t expect to have these in-stock for long!
Please stop by Sona and pick up a pair today to ensure you’re watching the eclipse safely on August 21st.
