You might have seen a Sona Prius driving by on Charlotte Street, I-240, or even a mountain backroad, but have you ever wondered who oversees the Sona delivery process?
His name is Robert Ball; and believe it or not, the art of logistics is not his passion, people are:
Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi, my name is Robert Ball. I was born and raised here in Asheville where, except for my military time, I have lived for nearly 50 years.
A few things that I hold very near and dear are my family, my faith, and my friends. I can be categorized as a generally fun loving jokester always looking to have, or make someone have, a good laugh.
I love people, which is one of the reasons why I love my job! I meet people from all walks of life, and get to know them through regular interactions.
What are your responsibilities at Sona?
I am the Delivery Driver Supervisor at Sona. I oversee eight drivers (including myself), and try my best to ensure that medications and other medical supplies are processed and delivered in a timely fashion.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite things about my job are meeting people, driving in the beautiful mountains of WNC, and getting to know my patients, as well as other health care professionals.
I truly love getting to know the people that I work with and deliver to. It is awesome to learn about people’s journeys in life, whether they are the richest of the rich or poorest of the poor, life experiences are what make us who we are.
How many miles have you driven over your career at Sona?
Since I have been at Sona, I have driven approximately 150K to 175K miles. I have been driving professionally for close to 25 years.
What are some of your favorite driving memories?
There are way too many to even begin listing!
Days when I start early, or when I work late, I get to see God’s handy work through beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I get to watch nature and life go through its cycles, and I have come to appreciate all the little things that we take for granted in our busy lives.
