Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi, my name is Lauren Minar and I am the Director of Compounding Pharmacy Operations at Sona Compounding.
I was raised in Lilburn, Georgia and attended undergrad and pharmacy school at The University of Georgia. Go Dawgs!
I moved to Asheville 9 months ago with my two dogs, Wyatt and Wilma.
We are loving everything WNC has to offer!
What is your passion within pharmacy?
I’m passionate about incorporating functional medicine into our compounding pharmacy services.
I believe it’s important to take an individualized approach to address the root cause of disease.
My desire is to equip patients with the necessary tools to achieve their health goals and promote optimal wellness.
I want all of you to live your best life!
I also enjoy combining the science of medicine with the art of compounding. Helping to solve patient’s challenges is extremely rewarding.
How can compounding help patients?
Compounding is the art and science of creating personalized medicine.
Compounding pharmacies work with providers to solve problems for many patients when commercially available medications are not able to meet their needs.
We create options for patients who require unique dosage forms, innovative delivery methods, special flavorings, elimination of allergens, and much more.
Sona Compounding offers both non-sterile and sterile compounded preparations for human and veterinary use.
What makes your personal skill set unique to help patients?
I adore building relationships with patients!
I want to make sure patients feel empowered with the knowledge and confidence to be included in their healthcare decisions.
What is a fun fact about you?
Fun fact about me: the coolest thing I’ve ever done is rappel down a glacier in Iceland. Go ice climbing if you have the chance!
Fun fact about my dog: Wyatt is an American Bulldog in the same bloodline as “Chance” from Homeward Bound. He’s my indirect claim-to-fame.
what are your hobbies?
On most Saturday mornings you can find me at an antique store or estate sale. I love all things old!
In my free time I like to cook and bake, garden, and reupholster furniture (my newest hobby!). My boyfriend and I also love spending time outdoors hiking and fly fishing.
Finally, what should patients remember about your blog post?
